My Labor and Delivery Story

While I was pregnant I would search other women’s L&D story just to know what to expect. Though I know everyone has a different experience and you can’t really go off of ones story, it was fun to read. And to be honest I was freaking out and knew my experience was going to be long and painful – I always expect the worse.

On my 37 week check-up baby was measuring to be over 7 pounds and knowing I was a good 3 weeks away from my due date I figured baby boy was going to be a 10 pound baby and he was going to tear me up LOL! Seeing my concern my doctor suggested being induced right around 39 weeks – though I was initially against being induced because of the high risk of a c-section, we decided to go ahead and schedule it. I was scheduled to go in on December 27th but baby boy had other plans.

Christmas Day 2017:

I woke up feeling pretty tired but good enough to make breakfast and to clean the kitchen – neat freak. Right after breakfast as I was getting ready I noticed a little discharge and from what I gathered from online articles this discharge can happen days to weeks prior to going in to labor – so I was not overly concerned. The day went on with me just lounging around the house and hanging with my parents as they were visiting. The discharge was continuous so around 6 p.m I decided to call the on-call doctor and she suggested that I go to the hospital just to have a look. When we were going in I was confident that I will be sent home since I was not having any contractions but my hubby decided that it would be a good idea to take our hospital bag JUST IN CASE. I checked in to my room around 7:00 p.m and lo and behold I was 4 cm dilated but not feeling any of my contractions!  The team was monitoring my contractions and the baby’s heart rate  and they became concerned that the baby’s heart rate was dropping every time I was having a contraction. They had me lay in different positions to help with the baby’s heart rate, which seemed to help for a bit. Around 10 p.m I was 6 cm and the doctor decided to break my water. My contractions at this time were not bad they just felt like bad cramps but I went ahead and got the epidural before it got any worse. Around midnight when they came to check on me I was still at 6 cm and the baby’s heart rate was still dropping with every contraction. The doctor advised us at this point that we will have to go in for a c-section. I was so upset by this because I really did not want to go this route but it was really affecting the baby and we could not wait any longer. After poking me with what felt like a hundred needles I was wheeled off to the operating room. I was shaking non-stop which was a side effect of the many drugs that were administered in me. I believe I was wheeled in around 1 a.m and I heard baby boys cry around 1:14 a.m. I bawled like a baby when I first heard him and then even more when I first saw him. It was surreal and truly a beautiful moment that will forever be engraved in my memory.

We’re having a Baby!

My husband and I have been married almost six years and we knew from the beginning we wanted to wait a few years before starting a family. We enjoyed being spontaneous, traveling and LAZY hehe. We were learning each other and enjoying each others company. On our three year anniversary we decided that we were ready to have a baby! It was thrilling to think we will be parents. But boy were we in for a surprise. I think I was living in a bubble because I did not realize it would be such a challenge to get to see a positive pregnancy test. I mean you hear about fertility issues but you never think it will happen to you. Month after month of tracking, measuring and calculating we kept getting big fat negatives. It was discouraging and heartbreaking. To add salt to injury it felt like everyone around me was announcing their pregnancy. A colleague of mine suggested that I download an app called Glow. It was helpful because I was able to track everything in one place and it was user friendly which I did not find on other apps. After we hit the one year mark we figured it was time to make an appointment with the doctor for further testing..just in case. The husband and I made appointments and everything checked out..Sooo what the hell was the problem? We continued to travel and enjoy our time and right after I stopped tracking and measuring I got my big fat positive! It took us exactly two years..TWO YEARS!

So, to all my mamas and papas-to-be…be patient and know that it will happen. Do not stress about it because it can cause a strain on your relationship. Continue to enjoy each others company. I know it is easier said then done but I promise when it finally happens for you, you will appreciate it even more.

Many blessings to all!

The time I went to Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a beautiful island rich in history, culture, and nature.  Did you know that you don’t need your passport ? All you need is your ID to fly. It helped that the currency was U.S. dollar and while Spanish is the main language of the island, English is widely spoken. Here are some pictures from my magical time in Old San Juan.

I don’t know why but this picture gives me the Abbey Road by The Beatles album cover vibe:

Skin Therapy Oil – Face

I’m pushing 30 and I still get breakouts! And though I know better..I pop them. I know, I know, I should know better but I can’t help it! I’ve noticed recently that popping them has left dark spots on my skin. Though I like wearing makeup I want to be able to go to the beach or hang out by the pool with out cake face!

One day when I went to pick up some milk from my local Super Target I found myself in the cosmetics (I mean come on.. who really goes into Target for one item and walks out with only that one item?) I saw this tiny box titled “Skin Therapy Oil Face” by Palmers and I thought to myself “Oil for your face? Do people do that?” But it highlighted that it brightens skin tone and texture and it has anti-aging benefits (its never start too early to prevent them wrinkles!) So I figured I would give it a shot – it was only $8.69 (plus 5% off with my Target Card) #winning

To check out all the key ingredients click here.

Right after I cleanse my face with Cetaphil I apply three drops of the oil onto my finger tips, then I rub my fingers together to warm up the oil and pat it onto my problem spots. I massage it in a little before rubbing it to the rest of the face and neck. I have been doing this religiously for 6 weeks now guys and the results have been phenomenal. My dark spots have vanished and can notice that I have a much more even skin tone. I had confirmation on my results when I went to visit my sister and mother after a few months and they both complimented my skin.

I highly recommend Skin Therapy Oil Face by Palmers if you are looking to even out your skin tone.

Much Love! Xoxo – Hina

Did you know?

The positive effects of kindness are experienced in the brain of everyone who witnessed the act, improving their mood and making them significantly more likely to “pay it forward.” This means one good deed in a crowded area can create a domino effect and improve the day of dozens of people!
